A good thing to start off with is the Sitz bath. You basically just fill up a tub with a couple of inches of warm water. As hot as possible really, get it as hot as you can take it. Sit in it for about 10 to 20 minutes a few times per day.

The warmth from the sitz bath will help the hemorrhoid shrink. But make sure that you are drying the affected area clearly once done so that there is not any moisture left over.

You also want to avoid trying to clean the affected area too much. This is something that comes natural to most people, however excessive wiping of the area will cause it to get irritated and will make your problems worse.
